Couple arrested after trying to collect belongings from home they had been evicted
ROCKPORT -- A couple were arrested early Monday morning, accused of entering a mobile home to collect their belongings after they had been evicted from the residence.
Bryan G. Ross, 37, of Rockport was initially arrested Sept. 18 by Rockport police and charged felony burglary, and misdemeanor criminal trespass. The district attorney's office, however, filed misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and criminal mischief in the Knox County court and not the more serious burglary charge.
Ross pleaded not guilty to the charges at his initial appearance held in the Knox County Court. Judge Sarah Gilbert set bail at $250 cash. Assistant District Attorney Mari Wells had requested $500 cash bail, citing his criminal record and four instances of failing to appear for court hearings.
The affidavit filed in court by Rockport police, stated that at 1 a.m. on Sept. 18, the department received a report that Ross and a woman were trying to break into a trailer that they had evicted from at Atlantic Pines LLC (Patterson Mobile Home Park).
